Emergency services were called out to a man who had become trapped on top of his own conservatory in Hemel Hempstead this morning.

A crew from the town’s Queensway fire station was called to the incident in Broad Street, in which a man who had been working on the roof of his house fell and landed on the glass annexe with no way of getting down, shortly before 9am.

Firefighters helped him down with a ladder and paramedics also attended to check over the man, who was believed to have hurt his shoulder in the short fall.

He was taken to Watford General Hospital as a precaution but his injuries were not thought to be serious.
