Fast food ‘drive-thru’ is proposed for Hemel Hempstead’s Maylands

Hemel Hempstead industrial estate workers could soon see a fast food drive-thru on the menu for their lunch breaks.

Plans submitted to Dacorum Borough Council for consideration suggest a restaurant, cafe and hot food takeaway outlet with an accompanying warehouse could be built on the town’s Maylands, though it is not known which company or chain will move in if approved.

Consultation with neighbours of the site has revealed concerns that the planned units will operate 24 hours a day and create noise during the night, but the authority says a premises licence would be required and decided separately from the decision on whether to approve the plans.
