Herts Police is launching a new campaign to help drivers protect their vehicles, following a raft of crimes across the county.

Operation Chariot aims to deliver spread crime prevention advice, and will also involve a range of proactive activities by officers to catch those involved in offending.

Inspector Paul Lawrence said: “Over the past year we have seen an unacceptable rise in thefts from vehicles, with tools and other valuables being targeted, as well as increases in thefts of certain types of vehicles.

“Offenders have been employing a range of techniques to commit their crimes, which have enabled them to bypass or disable security features on certain makes of vehicle.

“The advice we are issuing will help to prevent criminals being able to gain access to or steal vehicles.”
