The caring staff at Hightown Housing Association are among the best in the county, after reaching the finals in two categories of the prestigious Herts Care Awards 2015.

The seven-strong team at Lord Alexander House in Hemel Hempstead, which provides supported living to people with mental health problems, has been nominated for the Team of the Year in next month’s awards. The winners will be announced on November 27.

Scheme manager at Lord Alexander House, Barry Greig, said he believed his staff have been recognised for their innovative care work which offers bespoke support for their 19 residents.

This includes involving them in activities, such as a health and wellbeing group, a job club and a walking group, as well as supporting their educational needs.

Barry said: “We aim to support all our service users to live as independently as possible, and try to get them all involved in various activities.

“We’re delighted to have reached the final of the awards, as it’s an achievement to have got this far.”
