You’re never too old to start a new career, says former childminder Kathy Davis.

Kathy, who now works as a caregiver at Home Instead Senior Care in Hemel Hempstead and the Chilterns, says her new career is “perfect for someone of my age”.

Kathy, from Hemel Hempstead, visits her elderly clients regularly and helps them with their shopping, cooking, and other daily routines, helping them to stay living independently in their own homes.

She also provides them with companionship.

Kathy worked a childminder for 22 years while her children were growing up.

When she decided to stop childminding in 2014, she wanted her new career also to be something worthwhile.

Kathy, who was taken on by Home Instead a year ago, said: “Being a caregiver is wonderful. I have met so many lovely people and I feel like I am making a real difference to the lives of people and their families.

Home Instead owner Jeremy Lane said: “We are so lucky to have Kathy as a caregiver. She is truly an inspiration, and everyone who meets Kathy just loves her.

“She is 100 per cent client focused and is proof that the over-50s are a highly effective care resource.”
