St John’s Church in Boxmoor held its annual flower festival this weekend with the theme ‘Hymns in Bloom’.
Over three days the church welcomed people in to see the volunteer arrangers’ creations, which used a little poetic licence to interpret well-loved hymns through their bouquets and displays.
Vicar Michael Macey said: “It is a delight that some of the very best local flower arrangers have come together to beautify this church and make this festival possible. Our sincere thanks to them.”
Visitor to the festival Lucille Thomas said: “What an amazing display. Some very talented and creative people have clearly put a lot of thought into their arrangements. It was well worth a visit and the sun shone through the stained glass windows which made it even more spectacular.”
The festival was opened by new mayor of Dacorum Allan Lawson, and last night there was a concert by the Herts Philharmonia String Quartet with music including Beethoven.
Today services will be held at 8am, 9.30am and 6.30pm and all are welcome.
