Could you become a school governor?

Schools and academies in the Hemel and Berkhamsted areas are being rallied to recruit people for their governing bodies, after the district has been identified as having recruitment problems.

You can find out more about what the role entails at a Governor Recruitment Event on Saturday, June 27, at the Volunteer Centre, Marlowes in Hemel Hempstead.

The event is supported by the Herts Association of School Governors (HASG) and Herts for Learning.

Deputy Mayor of Dacorum, Robert McLean and Hemel Hempstead MP Mike Penning are also encouraging people to volunteer.

Chairman of HASG, Mike Scandrett, said: “Governors are there to ensure that schools are run well, to shape their future and that children thrive and enjoy learning.”
