‘Take control of your tweets’
Mick Holloway of 24-7 Business Networking
COMPANIES shouldn’t be put off joining the social media revolution by what they see as the rubbish on sites like Facebook and Twitter.
That’s the view of social media guru Mick Holloway, pictured, speaking at a breakfast networking meeting at the Ramada Hotel, Redbourn.
Mick Runs 24-7 Business Networking, which specialises in the use of social media to generate businesses.
He said: “Bear in mind all the time to use social media sites as a professional tool. It should be a policy decision on what to tweet about.”
A tweet is the name given to a message on Twitter.
One of the issues that puts people off joining sites like Twitter is the enormous amount of seemingly pointless messages on it. But Mick said: “It is not what others tweet, it’s what you tweet that matters. You should tweet what you think your community wants to hear.”
Twitter, he said, now has between 6.5 and 13million UK users, 53 per cent of them over the age of 35 and a quarter of them follow brands.
Some people also resist joining the social media revolution because they think it will take time away from doing the day job. But Mick said it was possible to devote just 15 minutes a day to maintaining a good social media presence and make it a vital part of the strategy of building relationships with clients and potential customers.
