‘Our plans for future of NHS’

HEALTH: The future of NHS Hertfordshire will be up for discussion at a public meeting next Wednesday.

The group’s directors will be at the Berkhamsted Civic Centre event in the town’s High Street from 2pm to 4pm.

Spokesman Caroline Raut said: “They will be discussing their plan for the future of NHS Hertfordshire, and its finances will be on the agenda as they always are.”

But she said the agenda for the discussion was still being drawn up and will be published on Friday in the ‘resources centre’ section of the website www.hertfordshire.nhs.uk

"Future up for discussion" is a euphemism for 'vee know vot is good for you, but we have to consult widely with as few as possible'. They do exactly what suits the organisation rather than what is best for the users (customers or patients in this case). I can remember when the cunning plan was put forward (consulted??) to centralise services on a cramped site some distance away - but not to worry, your local hospital will provide remain to provide all the regular services - I suggested it would be cheaper to just provide a super facility centrally (like Birmingham) and transport patients using a fleet of helicopters back and forth. Apparently they might affect the CE position (and pension), so may not happen. However, the end result is very similar. Still waiting for the new access road from the M1 that was promised, like the direct bus service and other improvements to the 'new' local health facility.
