Lilach in line for work prize

Working mum Lilach Bullock is up for the Best Mumpreneur gong in the national mother@work awards ceremony in Downing Street on June 18.

The mumpreneur award recognises working mothers who have started and run, their own successful companies.

Having good business sense, a good track record and the ability to juggle work life and home life, saw Lilach beat 43 other mums to the shortlist of three.

She launched Hemel Hempstead-based asklilach - a virtual PA service - from her home in 2006 and designed the business to fit around looking after her daughter Emily.

She said: "It can be difficult to juggle the demands of a growing business with family life. I do hope making it to the short-list will encourage many more mums to fulfil their ambitions to set up and run their own business – it's hard work but hugely rewarding."

Sarah Brown, president of Piggybank Kids and wife of Prime Minister Gordon Brown, is once again supporting the awards and is hoping to be at the event at No.11 Downing St.

She said: "Past winners have been inspirational and innovative in their approach to making the lives of working mothers and their families better and I am sure that this year will be no exception.

"These awards offer a tremendous example of how businesses and working mothers can come together to develop family-friendly policies and working practices and all the winners deserve our congratulations and praise."
