Law firm merges and moves staff out of Hemel Hempstead

A Hemel Hempstead law firm has changed its name and relocated staff to St Albans.

Pickworths, in Marlowes, has merged with SA Law, based in St Albans, creating a 15 partner firm looking after a broad range of clients across Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire.

The merger was completed on October 1 and Pickworths partners and staff are relocating from Hemel Hempstead to London Road, St Albans. The merged firm will be called SA Law.

SA Law managing partner Steve Ryan said: “This merger is all about the future: how to continue servicing clients’ needs and remain ahead of the curve in business and legal markets that are so fast-changing.

“This merger enables us to expand the range of services available to both business and personal clients at the same time as giving us the critical mass and economies of scale that are key to remaining competitive.”

Set up in 2005, SA Law is Lexcel-accredited and each one of its legal departments is recommended by ‘The Legal 500’s’ independent research which benchmarks law firms. Pickworths has been accredited as an Investor In People for more than 10 years.

The company says the move expands the range of services available to clients – from local and regional headquartered businesses, banks, property developers, retailers, charities, schools, to individuals.

In a statement on the Pickworths website, former Pickworths partner Ian Tottman, now a consultant, said: “Although we’ll be saying goodbye to the Pickworths brand, we won’t be saying goodbye to the exceptional advice, innovation and client care that has driven our firm for over 40 years.”
