Beware if there’s no score on the door, diners are told
PUNTERS are being urged to watch out for eateries that do not display new hygiene scores that come into effect from the end of January.
All the borough’s 1,399 restaurants, pubs and cafes have been rated from one to five for cleanliness but they are not obliged to display the certificate.
A full meeting of Dacorum Borough Council heard it could become mandatory because ‘those who score less than five may be less inclined to display it’.
Councillor Neil Harden, cabinet chief for regulatory services, said: “If the food outlet doesn’t show it on their windows you should have concerns about that establishment.”

Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 02:22 PMAbsolutely brilliant idea there were just too many un regulated disgusting fithy outlets serving us up food, this scheme should will make them pull their socks up, Three RiversWatford launched a similar thing a month ago, it is probably going Countrywide.
Scrumptious
Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 06:04 AMThese things pay very little attention to 'hygiene' - the food can be excellent but because management isn't up to scratch, they'll get downgraded. The kind of places that get top marks in other districts include school canteens and council places where they all know how to fill in the forms

Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 09:39 AMHempstead - everyone on here is allowed to comment, so very impolite of you to call anyone a Moron...Or is it only your opinion and comments that are valid.....I think if any of the comments are not allowed they come up pending moderation, so if you dont like what people put ...its simple dont read the comments.. I think making a bit of light hearted comments is not a bad thing , life is much to serious these days.

Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 08:17 AMIf there's going to be a comma it should be after "names". Shot yourself in the foot there Mr Wimpy. Starting sentences with "And" is up for debate as well.

Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 07:35 PMOne day they could be clean, the next there could be rats in the kitchen. Also the sign could be faked. This scheme is meaningless.

Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 12:12 PMSorry, but who on earth dreamt this one up. Surely if you do not reach a level of cleanliness under the Food Standards Agency inspections, you should be shut down until a level is reached. You cannot run a pub, restaurant or cafe on the idea that you are being 'quite or fairly' clean. If the acceptable level is 5, then ANYTHING less should be shut! Typical jobsworth scenario.
