Advice for patients
A Berkhamsted company has launched a system to recognise best practice in medical tourism.
Following a study, TreatmentAbroad.com, based in The Wilderness, has created a code of practice for patients travelling abroad for treatment. It is aimed to help inform the choices of the 100,000 UK patients, and medical tourists worldwide, who travel abroad for procedures every year.
MD Keith Pollard said: "There is no doubt that the medical tourism industry will continue to grow and to help patients make the right choice we have launched the code.
"It will recognise and promote best practice within the international private healthcare arena and will provide reassurance topatients about the services on offer."
Healthcare providers who sign up will be recognised on the website, where 50,000 patients, who are considering overseas treatment, look for information every month.
Mr Pollard continued: "We have developed the code in consultation with our clients and external specialists and I am confident that it will provide benefits for healthcare providers and patients."
