A history society has published a book to highlight a hidden treasure as part of a £320,000 lottery grant project to encourage tourism a Dacorum beauty spot.

A Surprising Walk In Tring Park by Shelley Savage details the history of the former Rothschild estate of 264 acres, beginning with its first recording in the Domesday Book during the Ice Age through to the present day.

Author Shelley, of Icknield Way, Tring, said: “The people of Tring love it and treat it as their own, with its humpy and bumpy chalk hills, but we need to tell more people about it and encourage visitors.”

The book is available to buy at the Tring Local History Museum.
