Body found in woods identified as Natalie Hemming

A body found in Hertfordshire woodland was formally identified as missing mum Natalie Hemming today (Wednesday, May 25).

At around 11am on Sunday, May 22, Herts Police received a call from a member of the public who had discovered the body at Toms Hill, Chandlers Cross – between Kings Langley and Watford.

Natalie, of Alderney Avenue, Newton Leys, Milton Keynes was last seen alive in Hemel Hempstead on May 1, before being reported missing by a family member on May 3.

Her next of kin has been informed after the post mortem examination concluded yesterday (May 25).

The cause of death has not yet been determined and further forensic tests are ongoing.

Natalie’s partner Paul Hemming, 42, was arrested and charged with murder on May 7. He is next due to appear in court in July.

Following Natalie’s disappearance, a full-scale manhunt saw three police forces scour four counties in the search for the 31-year-old.

Specialist officers and sniffer dogs combed Salden Wood, near Newton Longville, as well as a nearby disused railway.

Detectives released an appeal for information after their searches of Natalie’s home found a red rug missing from the living room.

Officers also seized a black Ford S-Max Titan X Sport which they believe to be connected with Natalie’s disappearance.

Cameras picked up the car travelling on the A413, the A418 and the A41 around Aylesbury, between 9.45pm on Sunday and 00.45am on Bank Holiday Monday.

Those with information should call police on 101.
