Royal Mail has confirmed that a shake up in its Hemel Hempstead sorting office could lead to job losses.
Staff at the Hemel Hempstead mail centre on Park Lane could be facing redeployment or voluntary redundancy.

The news came after rumours that second class post would be transferred to a sorting office outside the town.

A Royal Mail spokesman denied the claims and said that planned changes to the centre were 'small' and essential, due to fewer letters being sent.

He said: "There are no current plans to close Hemel Hempstead mail centre and weekend working, shift working and overtime will all remain, while any minor job changes as a result of revisions will be handled by redeployment or voluntary redundancy."

He could not confirm specific numbers for 'job changes', but said they were 'likely to be small'.
