A power cut added a whole new concept to the production of Yasmina Reza's ART at the Old Town Hall, Hemel Hempstead, on Wednesday night.
The lights went off in most of the homes and businesses along the high street at 9pm, just an hour into the play.

The performance, by Rumpus Theatre Company, had to be taken outside into St Mary's Church graveyard, behind the theatre, where it was carried out in the cloak of near darkness.

The audience of 100 people gathered around as the three actors performed the rest of piece by moonlight.

Pub-goers at The White Hart and The Rose and Crown enjoyed their drinks by candlelight until the electricity came back on just after 10pm.
