More viewers have come forward claiming their TV sets are on the blink because of works at the former Kodak Tower.

We have created a map showing the locations where people are having problems with their TVs (scroll down).

Several families now say they cannot receive BBC 1 and BBC 2 because construction work has affected a transmitter on top of the landmark building.

Complaints have flooded in since a story in last week's HeraldExpress about the TV woes of Maureen McGovern in Bassil Road.

The transmitter was fitted when the tower was first built in the 1970s to boost TV signals blocked by the large building.

Ann Nash, of St Albans Road, said: "We are having terrible trouble with our TV. We have been without BBC 1 and BBC 2 for almost a week-and-a-half."

She said that the picture for ITV and Channel Four was also poor and their teletext is not working.

Mrs Nash said: "We have got three televisions in the house and every one has gone. We have always had a good picture before."

Michael Clarke, of Wood Crescent, is also without BBC 1 and BBC 2. He said: "Luckily I have got digital TV downstairs but it's the bedroom TV that isn't working."

Other Hemel Hempstead residents have also contacted us through the newspaper's website www.hemeltoday.co.uk saying they are having problems.

But owners of the building Dandara, who are building more than 400 flats at the site, insist the transmitter is still working and a spokesman said they had taken precautions to make sure television reception was not affected during works.

A spokesman for National Grid Wireless - the firm that provides the transmitter on behalf of the BBC - said they have not detected any problems with the transmitter, which is automatically monitored and would alert engineers to any issues.

Meanwhile, National Grid Wireless has fitted two temporary masts to scaffolding around the tower.

The original mast, covering 3,000 homes in the area, is still in operation, but will switch to the temporary masts to allow works to be continued.
