Man with blade in Marlowes

A man was spotted brandishing a kitchen knife in Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead this morning.
Witnesses said about five police cars were called to the scene and the man was pounced on and taken away.

According to Herts Police, officers were called to the area at about 8.15am after reports of a man walking along Fletcher Way and then High Street carrying a weapon.

A spokesman said: "When officers arrived at the scene, the man was quickly taken away."

The spokesman added that a 37-year-old man from Hemel Hempstead was arrested after the incident on suspicion of having an offensive weapon in a public place and threatening violence with intent.

He is currently in custody at Hemel Hempstead police station.

No one was hurt in the incident, the police spokesman said.
