A man on a stag do in Hungary was stabbed in the thigh after catching a pickpocket trying to pinch his wallet.
Craig Hawkes, 25, was walking with friends in Budapest when he felt a thief fishing in his jeans pocket.

He instinctively grabbed the crook's arm, but then felt a blow against his upper thigh.

When he looked down his jeans were 'soaked in blo
od'.

Craig, who works for Hemel Hempstead firm Friedheim International, said: "We were just walking down the street to get to a bar – there were 17 of us and it was in daylight.

"I felt a hand go inside my pocket and I just grabbed someone's arm.

"As I grabbed him he stabbed me but we didn't go after him because I didn't realise what had happened.

"I felt my jeans getting wet, and when I looked down they were soaked in blood."

Craig, who was in Budapest to celebrate his girlfriend's brother's last days of freedom, said paramedics and police rushed to the scene and he was taken to hospital while officers and his friends searched in vain for the thief.

Now back at his Luton home but still unable to work, Craig said he would never go back to Budapest.
