A man hoping to become an MP for the Conservative Party has been charged with criminal damage and harrassment.
Ian Oakley stepped down as the Tory parliamentary candidate for Watford, which covers Abbots Langley and Leavesdent in its constituency, following his arrest on Friday, July 18.

He is charged with five counts of criminal damage and two counts of harrassment.

The 31 year old, of West Drayton in Middlesex, was also a Conservative councillor for Northwood in Greater London but has since left the political party.

This means he is now an independent councillor for the area.

He will appear at St Albans Magistrates Court on Tuesday, August 5.
