A robber who tried to take cash from the safe of a hotel near Hemel Hempstead made off with a mobile phone.
The thief threatened staff at the Ramada Jarvis Hotel in Hemel Hempstead Road just after 2.30am on Tuesday (May 6) in an attempt to get takings from the safe.

After realising the safe could not be opened however, the offender swiped a mobile phon
e and fled.

Detective Constable Andrew Boyer, investigating, said: "This incident would have been very distressing for the victims and I need the public's assistance in tracing the offender.

"If anyone knows anything about the incident, or saw somebody acting suspiciously in the area prior to the crime taking place, then please come forward."

The suspect is described as a black male aged 25 to 30 and around 5ft 6in tall. He was wearing a balaclava, a grey jacket and grey tracksuit bottoms.

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Boyer on 0845 33 00 222 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
