A twirling pro wants to turn majorettes in Hemel Hempstead into international champions.
Sharna West is hoping that picking up tips from the USA will help baton twirlers in Dacorum compete at top levels.

The award winning Hemel Hempstead majorette, who founded the Saturn Supremes troupe, recently visited a 'twirling camp' in Florida to hone her skills and wants to take more girls across the pond for training.

Sharna, 29, said: "Saturn Supremes are 10 years old this year and we are fundraising to take them to an international competition in 2010.

"Training is very expensive, especially when you want to compete at international standard, and we're looking for sponsors to help."

Sharna was crowned Miss UK Federation of Majorettes last year, a prestigious title that required Sharna to attend competitions up and down the country and teach majorette skills in schools.

While in the states, she practiced unusual moves like using fire batons or twirling three batons at once.

She was able to attend the camp thanks to sponsorship from Hemel Town Football Club.

If you would like to help the girls with their training, email Sharna at sbwjbw@hotmail.co.uk or visit www.freewebs.com/saturnsupremes for more information.
