Football star Paul Gascoigne was released from hospital, on Monday, after being sectioned under the Mental Health Act.
He was hospitalised in Hemel Hempstead on Sunday, June 1.
The ex-England ace was taken to hospital by police officers at around 12.30pm after he was found near to his ex-wife's house in Felden.
A police statement confirmed that officers accompa
nied him to hospital in Hemel Hempstead so he could be checked over.
He was sectioned under the Mental Health Act and was kept in hospital until he was well enough to be released.
Police received a report that a 42-year-old man had approached a member of public who was unknown to him appearing to be unwell and in an agitated state.
Before the troubled football star arrived at his ex-wife's house he was seen in the town acting disturbed.
He went to The Boxmoor Lodge Hotel, on London Road, at about 10.30am, and attempted to pay a hotel bill even though he had not stayed there.
He also went to Apsley News Post Office, on London Road, where he asked to buy a bottle of gin.
The shop owner would not sell Gazza any alcohol because he had read about his alcohol problems in the Sunday Mirror that day.
Gazza's sister, Anna, had issued a plea asking his friends and fans not to give him any alcohol.
The Gascoigne family were appraoched by various members of the press, after the incident, and have decided not to release a statement yet.
Gazza was previously detained under the Mental Health Act in February following an incident at a Tyneside hotel.
He was treated at Middleton St George Hospital in Darlington for two weeks following that incident.
