Blooming flowers and perfect plants helped gardeners at a sheltered housing block in Hemel Hempstead clinch a green-fingers gong.
The team at Evelyn Sharp House in Hemel Hempstead were awarded Best Communal Garden in the 2008 Best Kept Garden competition – a council-run contest which attracted almost 50 entries from sheltered housing schemes across Dacorum.

And the winning gardeners were presented with their shield and prize, donated from Wyevale Garden Centre, by borough mayor Cllr Carol Green.

Second place in the annual competition was shared by Florence Longman House in Apsley and Pond Close in Tring.
