Fire broke out at a Co-op shop in Hemel Hempstead.
The blaze started at the rear of the store in Long Chaulden at about 9.15pm.

Firefighters called to the scene discovered a refrigeration unit at the back of the shop and nearby rubbish on fire.

The crews brought the fire under control by about 10pm and some damage was caused to the store.

Eight people were inside the building but no one was hurt, a spokesman for the Herts Fire Service said.

The spokesman added that the fire was believed to have been started by a fault in the refrigeration unit and is not being treated as suspicious.
