A film maker from Flaunden, near Hemel Hempstead, has broken records for directing the first advert to be beamed into space.
Matt Bowron made the quirky £6.50 commercial for a national competition staged by Doritos.
It beat 1,000 entries, earning the 25 year-old and his pal John Addis, also 25, from Marlow, a £20,000 prize.
Matt was even flown to a satellite station at the North Pole to see the pair's creation beamed to the universe in a wacky PR stunt to show the ad to 'aliens'.
The move earned the 30 second film national press coverage and a place in the Guinness Book of Records.
Matt, who works as a freelance picture researcher, said: "The idea for the advert came off the cuff.
"We had a few ideas but went for one that would take place all in one room because we got the competition closing date wrong and thought we were running short of time.
"It was a bit of a rush getting it finished but it all worked out. Everything's been a bit mental since we won."
Matt, who also appears in the ad, added: "One of the national papers said they had researched the cheapest advert ever made and they think ours beat it."
The advert took three days to finish and was first aired on Sunday, June 15, during a Euro 2008 game on ITV1.
Called Tribe, it is a stop-motion animation that sees a bag of Doritos come to life and 'sacrifice' one of their own in a pot of dip.
Matt, who went to school in Chorleywood, said the five-figure prize money would go into more film making.
He said: "John and I agreed to spend the money on a high definition video camera and possibly a trip to New York to make a short film.
"Lots of people who start out in commercials move into film and as that's my passion I'm hoping to do the same."
