A woman whose family faced being homeless at Christmas has been given a reprieve.
Council chiefs had a change of heart over evicting Julia Davis and her children just days before Christmas.
The trio were to be thrown out of their Alexandra Road flat on December 19.
But public support for the family grew when their plight was featured in The Gazette earlier this month.
With backing from their local councillors - Rob Wright and Mike Moore - Julia and her 11-year-old twins have won their bid to stay in their home over Christmas.
Julia said: "We're so pleased to know we will have somewhere to live for Christmas.
"We have Christmas cards up all over the place and I'll do my best to give the children a good time now that we know we'll be together in the flat to celebrate it."
The future is still uncertain for Julia and the twins, who are awaiting confirmation of their new January eviction date.
Cllr Moore has requested that the family's next eviction and appeal dates be scheduled for after Julia's children are back at school.
They were evicted from their privately rented home in Leverstock Green for rent arrears and Dacorum Borough Council gave the trio their temporary flat.
An application for permanent housing was refused on the basis that Julia had made herself homeless by not paying her rent.
Julia, who suffers from depression, claims that her illness affects the way she manages her finances and hopes medical evidence of this will support her appeal against her eviction.
The council refused to comment on Julia's case, but it is understood the eviction date was moved following a request from Cllr Wright.
