Fire broke out in a camper van parked in Hemel Hempstead.
The blaze started at about 2.15am this morning (Tuesday) inside a van parked at Breakspear Way Caravan Club Site.
Firefighters called to the scene found the van smoke logged and used a hose jet to fight the fire.
The owner, a man from Wiltshire, had already escaped the fire through the van's rear window.
Firemen feared heat from the blaze might explode an LPG fuel tank in the base of the van, but the fire was put out before it got hot.
The fire is believed to have been caused by a faulty electric heater.
The owner of the van was taken to hospital as a precaution.
More to follow.
