Concerned residents are calling for a derelict building to be demolished after a series of arson attacks.
The homeowners in Ebberns Road, Apsley fear firebugs will continue to target the disused shop in their street if it is not pulled down.

One resident, who did not want to be named, said: "It is becoming a regular sight - that same building being s
et on fire and fire crews being called out.

"It has all the windows smashed, the roof is caving in - it is a dangerous building, which is bound to fall down sooner or later - particularly after all the fires."

Firefighters were called to the disused shop, Headlock Works, on May 1 after a blaze on the ground floor of the building.

On October 1, firefighters issued a warning to trespassers after arsonists set light to rubbish inside the empty premises.

Sub Officer John Print said he was concerned because there were a lot of trip hazards, holes and broken glass inside the derelict shop.

Last week, fire officers said the council was working to get the building secured.

Fire safety co-ordinator for Dacorum Jack Daw said: "That's what we're hoping for."

Mr Daw said the Dacorum Community Safety Partnership, a group made up of fire, police, council and health chiefs, was working to cut arson in the borough.
