Two top notch shows

TWO top notch and totally different shows are on their way to Trestle Arts Base in St Albans for the first weekend of the city’s 2012 festival.

Next Saturday Thin Ice is another striking production from Total Theatre Award nominees Shams following their sell-out UK tour of Reykjavik.

Set in Greenland in May 1940 Daniel sits frozen to death in a tiny hut.

Richard and Laura arrive too late to rescue him but the body thaws and secrets surface – threatening their marriage, beliefs and ultimately their survival.

A wartime thriller and love story, Thin Ice is a powerful and darkly comic exploration of people finding courage in the face of adversity.

On Father’s Day Swamp Juice entertains in a very different way.

Devised and performed by Jeff Achtem, the award-winning show completely sold out at last year’s Edinburgh Festival.

Using shadow puppetry and bits of rubbish including tinsel and string, Jeff brings us his gurgling new adventure about life in a swamp – with a stunning 3D finale.

Jeff Achtem’s Swamp Juice will also show at the Court Theatre in Tring as part of the Tringe Festival on Tuesday, July 3.

Thin Ice takes place on Saturday, June 16 at 7.30pm. Swamp Juice takes place on Sunday, June 17 at 2.30pm.
