Mother and Child statue at St Nicolas Nursery in Hemel Hempstead.

A restoration team hope to uncover the history of a mother and baby statue.

Dacorum Borough Council’s Conservation and Design team are appealing for information about the monument which stands in the grounds of Adeyfield’s St Nicolas Nursery in Eastwick Road, Hemel Hempstead.

They are planning work to restore the damaged statue, which has missing arms and legs, but would like to know more about it first, including who the sculptor was and where the statue was originally located.

The surface of the statue, which is believed to have once stood in Hemel Hempstead’s town centre, is also heavily delaminated.

If you can help reveal its history call Fiona Webb on 01442 228509 or email fiona.webb@dacorum.gov.uk
