Get a sneak preview of a Gem of an album
HEMEL’s hidden treasure Indy Jax will showcase GI Gem’s latest album Call to Action on Friday night.
In this album musician, writer and producer Gemma Ingrams, who is based in Hemel Hempstead, collaborates with guitarist Alex Kaupa, blending her electric violin arrangements with a variety of guitar sounds.
The album will be released on Saturday, February 18 on iTunes and across the internet, and on record label Gem Records Limited.
A later release of remixes will feature producers from across the UK including Jimitha Funk and Kelly Fish from Hemel.
Performing with Gemma and Alex on Friday will be Tim Watt on bass and David Sargeant on drums.
With a growing fanbase GI Gem will be gigging the new material worldwide later this year.
Members of Hemel Hempstead Movie Makers will film the Indy Jax event in order to compile footage for her first music video, which will be posted on YouTube after the album is released.
Signed copies of the album will be sold on the night for just £5 – half the price of the digital download.
Artwork for the album and the costumes have been designed and made with the help of graphic artist and photographer Stars Newis and print shop Image Two.
Stars Newis aka A Savage Production will present her first photographic exhibition in the Gallery Bar at Hemel’s Old Town Hall from Saturday, April 14 to Saturday, May 5.
The work exhibited will attempt to open up the hidden depths and beauty of Hemel Hempstead normally lost to the casual observer.
Don’t miss Hemel musician GI Gem at Indy Jax, 168a Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 1BA on Friday, February 10 at 8pm.
