Bad driving habits

It dawns on me that I spend a great deal of time standing on the pavement, watching the passing traffic, while I wait for a bus.

What have I learned from all this observation?

I've learned that a lot of drivers sing in the car, with gusto.

I've learned a lot of them laugh at something they've heard on the radio. (It's unnerving, that, watching drivers laugh).

I've learned that a surprising number of van passengers enjoy shouting obscenities at pedestrians.

And I've learned, sadly, that a lot of drivers still drive one-handed as they make calls on their mobiles.

But there's one thing that really shocked me: the number of drivers that write text messages while they are driving.

I am pretty much a professional texter, and can enter a sizeable message without looking at the screen, but these drivers aren't like that.

They peer laboriously at their phone and then glance up at the road, and then peer down at their phone again.

If there is a more idiotic driving behaviour I have yet to see it.

Well, actually, I have seen it. On my National Express trip I saw someone texting while doing 70mph on the motorway.

I hope that's the worst I ever see. Please.
