Stephen Beus, the exciting young American pianist, has chosen to give one of his two first UK solo recitals at Beechwood Park School, in Markyate, on Saturday, February 20.
The 27-year-old, who had his first piano lessons aged five, showed unusua
l talent at an early age and made his orchestral début just four years later.
He graduated from the Juillard School of Music and has since won several prestigious, International Piano Competitions.
As a result of winning the Juilliard School Concerto Competition, he made his Carnegie Hall debut with the Juilliard Orchestra and James DePreist, playing Prokofiev Concerto No. 3.
Stephen has also performed as guest soloist with many international orchestras.
So far he has recorded two albums; Excursions: Piano Music of Barber and Bauer, in 2006, and Stephen Beus Plays Griffes and Scriabin, in 2007.
The programme at Beechwood Park will include music by Bach, Liszt, Mendelssohn, Medtner, Griffes and Barber.
Beus has given many virtuoso performances in concert halls around the world but this concert, which is supported by Harpenden Building Society, will be only his second recital in the UK.
It is a great privilege for Beechwood Park to be the chosen venue for this concert.
