Music lovers in Abbots Langley are hoping for a £1,000 council grant to bring more variety to the village's festival of arts.

If Three Rivers District Council gives the go ahead the cash will be used to include classical and jazz performances at this year's Abbots Langley Festival of Arts to be held over four weeks during June and July.

Musical performers such as the Top Brass Jazz Orchestra and the Arcadia Classical Guitar Duo are to be invited along with local schoolchildren from Watford School of Music.

The festival is a biennial event organised by the Association of Abbots Langley Performing Arts Societies (ALPAS), formed from representatives of four local arts groups, the Gilbert & Sullivan Society, Abbots Langley Orchestra, the Art Club and Local History Society.
