Several cars parked outside their owners' homes were targeted by yobs in Kings Langley.

One of the victims Mark Thompson, of Havelock Road, caught the mindless destruction on CCTV cameras he installed at his home only a month ago.

Footage from around 12.45am on Wednesday, June 11 shows a pair of youths jump over the roof of Mr Thompson's Vauxhall Corsa, causing around £1,500 of damage.

Out of view the vandals can then be heard running up Havelock Road bashing other vehicles.

Mr Thompson, who has given the camera footage to police, said: "It is just mindless.
"There is no need for it. Someone is having a bit of fun at someone else's expense."

He invested in the cameras covering the front of his property after becoming fed up with vandalism in the area. Other recent footage shows youths trying the door handles of parked cars as they walk up the street.

In total four cars were damaged in Havelock Road including Mr Thompson's green Corsa, a red Ford Mondeo, an orange Renault Clio and a silver Ford Escort.

A further three vehicles in Vicarage Road, a new blue Mini Cooper, a blue Citroen AX and a grey Porsche, had paint work scratched between 5pm and 9pm later on the same day.

Neighbourhood officer PC Nicholas Pringle said: "There have been a number of these offences over a small period of time and we are keen to catch the offenders as soon as possible.

"If anyone is able to give us any information or saw anything, I strongly urge them to get in touch."
