Messrs, Buck, of Watford were catering and Mr Farmington Graves' full band would also be in attendance. Invitations to around 800 people were issued.

It was found impossible to invite the burgesses generally but as far as possible all people who are in any way connected with the public life of the borough or hold positions on committees or were leaders of religious organisations were invited.

A Hemel Hempstead man was fined £7 after pleading 'guilty' to the Berkhamsted Magistrates on Wednesday in respect of three motoring offences.

He was questioned by a police officer with regard to a power-assisted pedal cycle which he was riding.
