Update October 22. Memories and photosadded. A web reader has sent us a photo of the old Waggon and Horses pub in Hemel Hempstead Town Centre.

For many years it was a very popular pub in the town and raised thousands of pounds for charity.

The Waggon closed in 1989, to make way for what was then expected to be a new shopping centre as part of the demolition of the former BP building over Marlowes and the circular car park. In fact the new centre didn't happen for another 16 years.

The Waggon was a replacement for an earlier beer house called the Waggon and Horses which had stood nearby in the row of buildings up to the old railway arch across Marlowes.

Views. (see photo in gallery) This is a photo taken outside the wagon about 1945/6 the people in the cart are LES (BENNY) PORTER HIS WIFE FLO AND DAUGHTER IRENE they lived @ 228 marlowes with his parents ANNIE & CHARLIE PORTER.
