Touring theatre company, OVO, returns to the Old Town Hall, Hemel Hempstead on Saturday, June 14 with some erotic props in its production of Shakespeare's Measure for Measure.

It's set in late 19th century Vienna, a puritanical regime seething with repressed decadence and discontent where Angelo, determined to enforce laws against sexual licence, condemns Claudio to death for making his fiancée pregnant.

Isabella, beautiful and virginal, arrives to plead mercy for her brother and sets in motion a complex triangle of sexual obsession, justice and mercy against a backdrop of crazy humour from the city's anarchic lowlife.

Director Imogen de la Bere has been collecting suitable props and costumes, she said: "One day I'm hunting for prayer-desks, pews, bibles and incense holders and the next, trying not to blush whilst requesting some 'adult toys'!

Tickets from 01442 228091.
