Thomas Gillard Hemel Hempstead 1820
I am seeking information on a Thomas Gillard who died in Hemel Hempstead in August 1820. I understand from the local archives that there was an unusual number of deaths that summer and wonder if there was an epidemic in the town. Thomas is buried at St Marys. He was from Great Ormond street in London where he and his wife ran a pub on the site of the present Homeopathic hospital called the Queens Head. What was he doing in Hemel Hempstead? How did he die? Was he a local man? are a few of my many questions. Any help would be much appreciated

Please help me i am looking for any conections to living members of the Hunt famil that lived in the Harrow, Stanmore aria, now i know this may not be in your aria (then again i do not know how far you are from Harrow), but i have run out of places to go so i am asking anyone who will be willing to help me. My father was born William Hunt in Hull, Yorkshire and he had 10 brothers and sisters, most of whom where born in the same town as he was except for two. Sometime between 1937 and 1938 the family moved from Hull to Harrow and the last child Brenda Hunt was born in 1938 in Harrow, Stanmore. My grandparents names where Thomas William Hunt although everyon called him William and he was born 17 September 1900 in Hull, Yorkshire and died 8 August 1984 Harrow, Stanmore, England, my Grandmother was Alice Beatrice Garnet Challace and she was born sometime in 1904 Hull, Yorkshire, England and died 4 May 1994 Harrow, Stanmore, England and i have managed to trace thier grave to Harrow Weald Cemetary. I am looking for all surving members of the family as i can remember the last time i saw my grand parents was when my father died in 1974 in England and because my mother never got on with the rest of the family she had my father exhumed and brought his body back to South Africa and buried him here, along with him she brought us back and forbad us any contact with my fathers family, well time has gone by and my sister and i have been trying for many years to make contact with the family, please do not turn us away as we are now getting desperat and i am now asking for your help in trying to make contact with the family, so please if you know of anyone in the Harrow or sarounding arie who can help us make contact, as money has now become a problem as we have spent all our money trying to get in contact with them through genealogy sites that just want more and more and get us nowhere. Please Help us. Yours Sincerly

The Night The Bomb Fell. I have read the above article with interest as I have a family connection with one of the people who died. As you said Mrs Sheldrake was killed and her husband was seriously injured. Her was nursed back to some sort of health by a nurse called Doris Collins. Doris was from a local Hemel family, and later married Mr Sheldrake. I don't know his name or any of his details, but Doris would be a cousin of my mother's. The Collins family lived in Chapel and Church Streets, Old Hemel town now, but they were orignally from Bucks Hill near Chipperfield. I have some photgraphs of Doris and her sister and their parents, I would like to pass these onto them. Does anyone know of Doris or sister Shirley,(I think Shirley married a Mr East from High Street Hemel H), or their descendants if any please? Thank you, Andrew Bartley

re:Jex/Atkins.
I wonder if anyone could tell me anything about my grandparents. My grandmother's name was Amy Jex. She originally came from Norfolk but was in service with the Harrison Family of Bulstrode House, Chipperfield. My grandfather, Louis Atkins, was born in Kings Lane, Chipperfield, and they were married at the Prodestant Dissenters Chapel in Chipperfield in, I believe, about 1901. I am tracing my family tree, and was surprised to find that my grandfather's family came from Chipperfield, as I moved here in January 2007 and had no idea that he was born here. If anyone can tell me anything about them or, indeed, about the Harrison family of Bulstrode House, I would be most grateful. Diane Read

Guy Alexander Fenton.
I'm living in Berlin, Germany and I'm hoping someone could be so kind to assist me in finding information about my grandfather. My mother Magdalena Waldera is the daughter of Guy Alexander Fenton. From 1921 until 1922 Guy Alexander Fenton was a member of the Interallied Commission in Upper Silesia. During this time period he had a relationship with my grandmother Klara Waldera. From this relationship stems my mother, who was born in 1922 in Opole, Upper Silesia. For that reason, I would like to know more about my grandfather. If there are other relatives of him, I would like to get in touch with them. His funeral took place on August 5th 1982 in St. Mary`s church, Northchurch, Berkhamsted. I believe he must have lived in this area during the last years of his life. Please email to: vedohela@web.de

SMITH (Derek)
I have traced my tree back to John job SMITH born Hemel Hempstead
24th october 1794. He had a sister Elizabeth baptized 6/1/1793 H/H & a brother Edward baptized 30/7/1797 born 16/3/1797. No other offspring have been found from their parents,John & Elizabeth SMITH [there are 4 couples with these names married in the area at this time but
John Smith married Elizabeth Howard on !st December 1791] They were wed at Gt Gaddesden. The H/H burial register records the burial Elizabeth Smith aged 35 on 10th april 1801.
Is there someone out there that that can fill in further details and help me verify more ancestors?
Contact: dereksmith34@aol.com
ADDITION, August 2006: I have what, maybe, further info. the first child born to John (Job]& Elizabeth
[Eagle] shown on the 1841 census for St Pancras as
Elizabeth SMITH aged 13 born in county
The 1851 census gives her as ;-
Frances Palmer SMITH aged 24 bapt. St Andrews Holborn
IGI gives Frances Palmer SMITH birth 14 Jan. 1827 bapt 14 March 1830 at Old
Church St Pancras. She Wed on 10 Dec. 1854 as F. P. SMITH
Now I have traced a JOHN SMITH of Gt. Gaddesden wedded to Fanny Palmer at
Aldbury on 5 March 1785. There's a Ref. a Frances Palmer Daughter to Edward &
Elizabeth Palmer on 20 August 1758. And another on IGI to Fanny Palmer born
about 1764.
Is it possible that the marriage of John to Frances In Aldbury 1785 ended with
the death of Fanny[Frances] ( Ihaven't found death cert.)? So John, then married
Elizabeth [Howard] in 1791 at Gt. Gaddesden.
Complicated? You bet but there must be an answer
NEW Jan 2008: Ronald Snoxall
I am seeking information about a RONALD SNOXALL (there are quite a few with this name but so far do not fit with my limited information), who was born probably between 1900 and 1910. He was a member of the crew (Electrician?) on the Orient Line ship RMS “Oronsay” on the London to Sydney ( Australia ) run about 1928 and early '30s. He was definitely on that run 1932, 1933, 1934. To date I have been able to locate a few by that name but no one of the Snoxall family with whom I have been in contact are unable to help me so far in pin pointing the Ronald Snoxall or his descendant (if any) family I seek. That ship, “Oronsay” was launched about 1925 and sunk off western Africa in the early years of World War 2. If anyone thinks they may have a connection with a Ronald Snoxall that comes close to the scant details I have and described here, I would deeply appreciate their reply.
