What they do:
The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) opposes and campaigns against the 'development, manufacture, testing, deployment, use or threatened use of all weapons of mass destruction'.

Who it helps:
The Hemel Hempstead branch keeps local people who wish to endorse the organisation's ethos up to date with the latest campaigns and developments.

Facts:

  • In 2008 the Hemel Hempstead branch of CND hosted the launch of a new book about the organisation's history to mark 50 years of campaigning and the background of its iconic peace symbol.

  • To mark the occasion, infamous activist Pat Arrowsmith signed copies and chatted with shoppers at Waterstones in the Riverside Shopping Centre.
