Secretary doesn’t have to be sporty to help the team
A selection of the opportunities available this week through Volunteer Centre Dacorum.
Dacorum Sports Network is looking for a volunteer secretary who can manage records and correspondence as well as support the chairman with meetings.
The network was formed in 2007 and has a key role in ensuring that Dacorum has a healthy and active community. It provides advice and guidance on sports matters to clubs and volunteer groups.
The right volunteer will have good administration skills and an understanding of committee work. A home PC with email is a must as much of this role is home-based. They would be expected to attend six meetings a year in various locations around Dacorum.
A hospice team needs a volunteer van driver and volunteer packers to help in their retail and trading department.
Money raised helps the Tring-based charity, Iain Rennie Grove House Hospice Care, to offer specialist advice and support to patients and carers 365 days a year.
Hands on volunteers are needed to help pack items that have been sold on the Ebay virtual charity shop and a van driver to transport goods between the charity’s offices and shops as well as collecting large donated items from supporter’s homes. The driver should have a clean licence, a good level of fitness and be available on a Tuesday, timing for the packer role are flexible to suit the volunteer once trained.
A cheery volunteer cook is needed by Bennetts End Community Association to shop for and prepare a hot meal for the over 60s each Friday.
There is an opportunity to run a café at the same time and to sell soup, sandwiches, teas and coffees to other users of the centre. Hours are 8.30am until around 3pm and expenses are available.
The centre’s landmark Roundhouse offices in Hemel Hempstead town centre, pi® will be closed for business from 4pm on Thursday, March 28 until 9.30am on Monday, April 9.
We are using the time to upgrade our software and for staff training on the new system, all with a view to improving our service to volunteers and organisations.
