Remarkable life story of Swan’s ‘rude rogue’

THE ‘loveable rogue’ who ran a landmark pub for nearly 25 years has died aged 88.

Peter Caro, who was landlord at The Swan in Berkhamsted, died from a stroke on Tuesday, December 20.

His funeral was held at the Chilterns Crematorium in Amersham yesterday.

Daughter Candace Pitkin, 60, from Berkhamsted, said: “He was a big character, a loveable rogue and a very honourable man with a very generous nature.”
