CCTV images show the suspects as they prowled AmeyZoos exotic animal store.

A theft of electrical equipment from an exotic animal store has angered staff who feel they can no longer trust all customers.

The incident at AmeyZoo in Bovingdon High Street on Friday, March 1, was caught on CCTV.

The two male suspects, believed to be Eastern European, spoke to manager Siouxsie Gillett just before stealing a heater worth £70.

Siouxsie said: “I think they knew what they were doing. I asked if they wanted help and they said they were just looking. My colleague just came off the shop floor for a second, it was so quick.

“The cost of the item was not huge, but to me it was more the principle behind it. We are very lucky, most of our customers are very nice people but we do take everyone at face value and I think now we have to be more vigilant, which is sad.”
