It’s a bullseye for feted community hub

A CALL has gone out for pictures and memories of Warners End Community Centre as it celebrates its 50th anniversary.
The centre hopes to collect as much material as possible to create a display to mark the big day later this year.
Centre manager Jacqui Wakefield said: “We’ve been here for our local community for 50 years.”
The centre was built in 1962 by a group of founders including Joyce and John Framp, who is now honorary president. His daughter Hilary Moorton has kept things in the family by becoming assistant manager.
She said: “The residents’ association used to meet in the old youth club. They raised funds to get the building built. It has done many things for the neighbourhood ever since.”
Among those who use the Stoneycroft venue are Little Acorns nursery and the bingo club – which has been running for as long as the centre.
Centre chairman Margaret Coxage said: “I would like to think we’ve played a great part in the community over the years.” Send your pictures to warnersend@btinternet.com or call 01442 213339.
