Have a ball to help Millie get lifesaving treatment
IT worker Laura Rampley is organising a masquerade ball in a bid to raise cash towards a little girl’s life-saving treatment.
She decided to put on the fundraising event after learning that her bosss three-year-old daughter needs costly pioneering treatment.
Millie Cummins, pictured, has battled cancer twice in her short life and now needs breakthrough therapy called immunotherapy with antibody.
She will join a clinical trial in Germany at the end of this month, but the treatment costs 70,000.
Although her parents, dad Nick and Coralynne, have been told their Primary Care Trust will foot the bill it is not clear when the funding will be made available.
In the meantime the family has been fundraising to ensure Millies place on the trial, so far raking in almost 49,000.
Funds will also be used to cover medical expenses that are not paid for by the PCT and any money left over will be kept for Millie in case she needs further treatment.
Laura, 26, who works with Nick, hopes to raise 5,000 through the ball.
It is being held on Saturday, February 25 from 7pm at the Ramada Hotel in Hemel Hempstead Road. Tickets cost 35 and includes a buffet and disco.
