The Dacorum Heritage Trust

Location: Clarence Road, Berkhamsted.

What they do:

Dacorum Heritage Trust manages collections for numerous societies in Dacorum and houses more than 65,000 items at its base in Berkhamsted.

Who it helps:

It looks after the local history societies of Berkhamsted, Hemel Hempstead, Kings Langley and Tring, but also organisations such as the Graham Green Birthplace Trust and the Dacorum Borough Council.

Facts:

Its artefacts all relate to the history of Dacorum and include pottery dating from the first century and a penny farthing.

The museum is not a building that the public can walk into, its items are housed in a 'store' in a converted fire station in Berkhamsted.

The trust runs monthly tours, loans objects to schools and care homes, and has permanent displays in libraries and civic centres.

It also organises events such as The Big Draw, on October 9, where art groups can tour the store and sketch its most interesting objects.
