Get behind the wheel to help out families

Volunteer opportunities - Dacorum Home Start.

Volunteer opportunities - Dacorum Home Start.

DRIVERS with a sense of fun are needed to drop off families at weekly group sessions that help out struggling parents.

Home Start helps families with pre-school aged children who, for a variety of reasons, feel temporarily unable to cope with the stresses of family life.

Family group sessions are run every Tuesday from 10am to midday during term time. The meetings offer support for parents alongside fun, games and crafts for under five-year-olds. Volunteer drivers must be parents themselves, have a car and a clean driving licence.

> A patient computer whiz is required to help Mencap Dacorum members who struggle with basic computer programmes and the internet.

The right volunteer will need to be patient and able to teach people using their own computer on Word, email, web browsing, social networking sites and downloading/uploading pictures.

> One or more volunteers are needed to oversee adults with learning disabilities working in a new community cafe. They will serve customers, take money, prepare simple foods and drinks and clear tables at the cafe, which will be housed at Hemel Hempstead’s Salvation Army.
