Egg packing plant homes could double size of hamlet
HOUSING plans that will almost double the number of homes within a hamlet will be considered by councillors.
An application for 26 homes, four business units and allotments for householders will bring affordable homes to Gubblecote and transform an ‘unattractive’ industrial site.
However, 13 residents living near the Lukes Lane site have signed a petition expressing concerns about the development’s size.
They have asked for fewer homes and changes to the layout and design.
A planning application for the former egg packing plant will be considered by Dacorum Borough Council’s development control committee on Thursday evening.
At its peak, around 12 years ago, Lukes Farm Egg Packing plant employed around 150 staff but today, due to tough economic times and poor transport links, it has almost ceased operation.
